Is Cat Island Medical (CIM) free for everyone?
CIM is an NHI funded clinic that provides free services to persons who are registered with CIM through NHI. All Bahamian citizens and permanent residents are eligible for NHI. Persons who are not eligible will incur a fee to access services.er to this item.
How do I register with CIM?
You can call NHI (Benefits Department) and register with CIM. You will need your NIB number. You can also go to the CIM office and register as well.
Will I still have access to the Government Public Clinics?
Yes, the public clinics will still be available to you even if you are registered with NHI for Cat Island Medical.
Are all services at CIM provided for free?
No, in some cases a small charge will apply. This helps us to maintain the equipment and bring in specialized staff for specialty services.
Does CIM have a free pharmacy?
No, fee medications are available at the government clinic. Specialty medications not available at the public clinic can be ordered through CIM from Nassau and shipped within 48-72 hour
Who Owns CIM? How is CIM different from the Government Clinics?
CIM is an NHI facility that focuses on Primary preventative care. It is free to citizens and residents who are registered with NHI.

If I’m a visitor to Cat Island and don’t have an NIB card or NIH affiliation, can I still use the services of CIM?
Yes. CIM welcomes all. Visitors / Tourists can access services at CIM. Fees will apply on a fee-for-service basis.
Can I generally be seen same-day if I have a need?
Usually. CIM will do its best to accommodate all patients.
What additional services will you provide in the future?
CIM already offers dental screening and will offer dental X-Ray services in late 2024 and eye/vision services in 2025.
